Leash Skills - Handling & Manners (INTRO)

Our Leash Skills - Handling & Manners class is a

2-session introduction to help you and your dog learn better communication and the necessary skills to practice for a more enjoyable walk at both ends of the leash.


We will also cover the following skills:

  • Settle on your mat

  • Auto-Watch

  • Engage-Disengage

  • Wait

  • Stay

  • Come 


Requirements: 

  • Dogs should be healthy, injury-free and parasite-free 

  • Proof of current vaccinations

  • Dogs should not be fearful of new environments, other dogs or other people 

    • *Please book a 45-minute virtual session which may be followed with more virtual sessions OR in-person private sessions (group classes may or may not be the eventual goal)

  • Dogs should not be aggressive or overly excited, excessively barking

    • IE unable to function around other dogs/people 

    • They are over threshold (unable to learn when they are in this state of mind) 

    • We need to help them by managing the environment and limit the distractions, so they CAN learn

Leash Skills
Handling & Manners
(Refresher & Practice)

This Leash Skills - Handling & Manners class is a

2-session refresher for Teams who have taken any of our FIT-Foundations (Level 1 and up) or C.L.A.S.S. programs.
The goal is to provide you and your dog a structured, controlled environment to practice some of the skills you have already been introduced to, for better communication and more enjoyable walks at both ends of the leash.

NOTE: Because this is an 'open' refresher course, Teams will be at different stages in their training and skill level, which provides a great opportunity to watch and learn from others as well as help others learn

We will also practice the following skills:

  • Settle on your mat and 'Place' 

  • Auto-Watch

  • Engage-Disengage

  • Look at That

  • Wait

  • Stay

  • Come 


Requirements: 

  • Dogs should be healthy, injury-free and parasite-free 

  • Proof of current vaccinations uploaded under Pet Info & Vaccinations

    • Take a picture and upload that or contact your vet and ask them to email a pdf version and upload that

    • Vaccinations should show your dog's name, vaccinations give and the DUE DATES (these are the dates we enter into our system)

  • Dogs should have successfully completed FIT-Foundations Level 1 (or higher) and/or any C.L.A.S.S. program

  • Dogs should not be fearful of new environments, other dogs or other people
