It’s never too early to start training and we’re here to help guide you every step of the way!
The first 12 weeks of a puppy’s life are critical for socialization and new positive experiences. What your puppy learns during this stage will likely shape behaviour for the rest of his or her life so it is important to start on the path to success. Proper early socialization is key for having a confident, friendly, well-adjusted companion.
Puppy Start Right Preschool consists of four socialization classes plus five online videos (including Orientation) which will help with the development of cognitive, motor, and social skills all while strengthening your puppy’s bond with you!
There will be plenty of off-leash play, exploration, and socialization with other puppies and we will also spend time covering important topics such as crate training, jumping, barking, chewing and nipping.
*Puppies STARTING this program should be between 7 and 12 weeks of age.
*Puppies are able to start class 10 days AFTER receiving their first round of vaccinations. Your puppy should have a recent exam by a veterinarian, be current on vaccinations (DHPP/DHLPP) and be disease/parasite free. * We must be kept up-to-date throughout the session as new vaccinations occur.
*Commence and conclude your program such that your puppy graduates no later than 16 weeks of age. Starting and ending earlier is always better!
Who Should Attend: The entire family is encouraged to attend class. Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Children under 8 must have two adults present (one puppy parent and one child parent).
What to Bring to Class:
* A hungry and healthy puppy
* A variety of small, soft treats that your puppy really likes (the treats need to be more appealing than all the other people and puppies in the room!)
* Your puppy's favourite toy(s)
* Your clicker (and treat bag)
* All puppies must be on a collar and leash (well-fitted flat-buckle collar or harness and 4-6 foot leash)
*** No collars that tighten on the neck, no flexi-leashes, no averse methods
Limitations of Puppy Start Right Preschool: Puppy Start Right Preschool is designed to facilitate socialization, address normal puppy behaviors, and prevent the development of behavior problems. Puppy Start Right Preschool is not designed to treat serious behavior problems (such as aggression, anxiety, or extreme fear)
