What to expect?
Throughout the program, we will work on the 12 Canine Good Neighbour test items, including:
Polite greetings and interactions
Loose-leash walking
Sit, down and stay around distractions
Reliable recall
Handling and grooming exercises
Calm behavior around people and other dogs
Building confidence in unfamiliar environments
Course Highlights
Progressive practice of the CGN test items
Tips and troubleshooting from your instructor
Small class size with a maximum of four teams
A supportive environment designed to build skills and confidence
Practice at the OSCK9 facility and in a dog-friendly public environment
Schedule Information
The first four sessions will be held at the One Smart Cookie K9 Services facility:
November 1 at 10:30 a.m.
November 8 at 10:30 a.m.
November 15 at 10:30 a.m.
November 22 at 10:30 a.m.
The final two sessions will be held off-site at Home Hardware:
November 29
December 6
For the final two sessions, each team will receive an individually assigned time. Appointments will begin at 10:00 a.m. with limited overlap. No more than two dogs will be at the location at one time.
Who Can Join?
This program is perfect for pet parents looking to refine their dog’s manners and work toward CGN certification. Whether you are preparing for the test or simply want to level up your dog’s behavior, this program is for you!
Dogs should have some experience with foundational skills such as Sit, Down, Stay, Come and Focus around distractions. We are not looking for perfection, but these should not be completely new concepts for the dog and handler.
